Khalid Shareef - Undergraduate Scholarship Program

(Turbat, Baluchistan)

Khalid Shareef, 24, is a student at Quaid e Azam University Islamabad enrolled in the Undergraduate scholarship program. Khalid hails from a village one hour away from Turbat and grew up in an environment besieged with extremism. Due to a lack of universities and high-quality education facilities, his family and Khalid decided to make a sacrifice and live away from his home in a new city.  

He is one of 4 brothers and has two sisters. His father is a retired laborer, and his mother is a homemaker. None of his elder siblings have had formal schooling and his sisters were married at an early age. Khalid is not only the first boy from his family to reach university level (Engineering degree) but also the first person in his entire village to secure a position at a renowned university. His goal is to return to his region and create a structure to pave the way for more youth to pursue formal education.
